A Self-defence activist was shot dead in Zaporozhye. The Zaporozhye Region, 14.03.2014

Two men who called themselves activists of People’s Self-defence got into a house in the suburbs of Primorsk. The web portal Zaporozhye. Commentarii received this information from its staff sources.

It has been established that the men claimed that they came to dispossess one of the local residents and demanded his money and food for the ‘guys on the Maidan’. In skirmish the owner of the house shot dead one of the activists, while the other one escaped.

118. Activists of the AutoMaidan are chased after in Zaporozhye. Zaporozhye, 14.03.02014

Yesterday about 5 p.m. an activist of the AutoMaidan and Maidan Self-defence Petr Kobyz met with an accident near the Magar Theatre in Zaporozhye. His car was cut up by a car, the driver of which had a police card. The man who caused the accident began to threaten Kobyz. When the conflict seemed to be settled, a group of unknown men assaulted Petr Kobyz not far from the place where the accident happened. They knocked him off his feet and started to beat. The Self-defence activist managed to escape with mach effort and ran into a bank nearby. There he called the police.

119. Rabbi Gilel Coen was called a ‘kike’ and beaten unmercifully in Kiev. Kiev. 14.03.2014

Friday morning, 14 March, Israeli web site Rotter reported that rabbi Gilel Coen, the secretary of Hatsala Ukraina organizationwas attacked in Kiev. According to the source, two men assaulted rabbi on his way to hospital №10 where he intended to visit one of the patients. The rabbi was injured, thereafter the men drove away.

Rotter publishes this information referring to Gilel Coen who says that he was assaulted Friday evening, 13 March, on his way to hospital where he was going to visit a Jew, a ‘tourist from England’. Coen says, that in a ‘dark lane’ not far from the hospital he was attacked by a group of unknown people who called him a ‘kike’ and other offensive names in Russian the meaning of which he did not understand. The rabbi is said to have his hand injured and his leg wounded with a sharp object.

Gilel Coen says that after that the men got into the car waiting for them nearby. After the incident the rabbi called a taxi and went to a synagogue where he called the police to file a report.

At the time of publishing this news item the Ukrainian media did not report about the assault at Gilel Coen.

The correspondents of the web site NEWSru.co.il applied to the Kiev department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs for comments. Yana Semenjuk, the senior inspector of the Kiev police department, told the journalists that Gilel Coen had indeed applied to the Podolsk police department in Kiev at 22:00 on 13 March. It is said in his application that Thursday evening he was assaulted with sticks by two unknown men on Frunze Street, 103a, not far from hospital №10. The stab wound was not mentioned in the paper. The assault is now investigated. At the time this news item was published nobody was arrested.
