Regional Organization Batkivshchyna Filed to Police. Chernivtsi region, 07/03/2014

Because of the activists of Right Sector, the Chernivtsi regional organization Batkivshchyna

filed to the police. In their statement, they write, “Yesterday, strangers in masks, who introduced as Right Sector activists, provokes disorders in the Storozhynets district: they hindered the work of local loggers, damaged their equipment, tried to take it away and even caused injuries to people. The conflicts occurred twice during the day. We demand that the Ministry of the Interior and UAS in the Chernivtsi region should take control of the situation in compliance with the law in the region. We say that public initiatives to help law enforcement agencies to monitor the peace and order in the region should also be ordered. Now there is an agreement on joint patrolling areas and assistance to law enforcement agencies between the police and People’s Self-Defense, which was established on the basis of Batkivshchyna. Other political and social groups, including Right Sector, may also participate in the People’s Self-Defense activities. Therefore, only the participants of such arrangements can now act in the public interest. All other actions are considered to be a provocation aimed at destabilizing the situation in Bukovina and discrediting all the democratic forces, which overcame dictatorship in Ukraine.”
