Gang under the guise of self-defense squads attack humans. Zaporizhye region, 03.03.2014
Today in the Zaporozhye region there are more than 70 units of public order protection. Sinse the beginning of the year, law enforcement officers identified three gangs that under the guise of self-defense forces looted and attacked people. This was told by the GUMVD Chief of Staff, Oleg Kurochkin during a briefing.
- We know that now new civil defense formations are actively created. But so far, not all of them are cooperating with the police. They serve separately from law enforcement agencies. And, unfortunately, we do not have information that somewhere the crimes were prevented by them or they assisted in solving crimes, - Oleg Kurochkin said.
According to him, in the Zaporozhye region and directly in the city of Zaporozhye three crimes related to civil defense units were committed. So, in Energodar, under the guise of civil defense squad, "Bulava", attackers robbed a woman. Similar crimes were committed in Volnjansky region where criminals stopped the car and took the weapon from the driver for which he had the license; the same happened in Kommunarskiy district of Zaporozhye region.
"Attackers stopped a passerby on the street and asked to produce documents that it is illegal. Policemen do not do this. The police officer has the right to establish the identity of the citizen, if he has committed any offense or is suspected of committing it. Here, without any reason, they demanded documents, and the victim was beaten when taking the documents out, "- said the GUMVD Chief of Staff, Oleg Kurochkin.

Regional prosecutor was attacked near the building of Odessa regional administration. Odessa, 03.03.2014
Under the walls of the building of the Odessa Regional State Administration participants of the rally stopped the car of acting Regional Prosecutor, Peter Lischishina and with shouts ‘Shame!’ escorted Chief Prosecutor of the Region to the building. When he was going to go in there, he was grabbed by his clothes and overturned on the stairs. In crowd there were heard shouts: "Do not let the prosecutor! Hold him! Do not let him go!" The car of prosecutor was smashed.

Local journalist, head of IPC-Sevastopol, Tatiana Rihtun was attacked in Sevastopol today.
As reported by Rihtun herself, an unknown person, presumably member of a voluntary public order squad ran to her, twisted here arm, struck on the head and grabbed the camera. The assailant fled in an unknown direction

On March 3, on the outskirts of Lvov unknown persons claiming to be from the ‘Pravy Sektor’ (Right Sector) and drawing guns robbed a shuttle van.

A group of unknown persons attacked the house of the head of the Gorenka rural village. Kiev region, 03.03.2014
Kiev Sviatoshynsky district of Kyiv region internal affairs authorities opened a criminal case against a group of persons who disguised themselves as Maidan self-defense squad, - press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kiev region reported on Monday, March 3.
It is previously established that on March 2 at about twelve o'clock at night about 20 unidentified persons knocking the door broke into the house of the Village Head. At that time his wife and son were in the house. The men were disguised as Maidan Self Defense Squad. They were dressed in camouflage uniforms without insignia and chevrons, in body armor; they had masks with slits for eyes and mouth on their faces.
Threatening with hunting and traumatic weapons, criminals demanded from residents of the house to give them money and valuables.
The Village Head after receiving a call from his wife who told him about the attackers, gathered local activists and came to the rescue.
Taking into consideration the information circulated in the media about the possible appearance of impostors- looters who disguised themselves as Euromaidan activists local residents appealed for help to the Euromaidan Council.
Further negotiations with the attackers were led by one of Euromaidan centurions. Subsequently, Village Head’s wife and son taken hostage were released; then the attackers surrendered their weapons.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Ukraine (robbery committed by an organized group of persons).
