The Faculty of Telecommunication was established in 1980. Today it is an educational and scientific centre with more than 950 students.
The faculty prepares specialists in the following specialties:
-Multi channel telecommunication systems
-Metrology, standardization and certification in informatics
-Radio electronics and communication
-Systems of wireless communication, broadcasting and television
-Telecommunication networks
117 lecturers, among them are corresponding members of the National Academy of Science of Belarus, 11 professors, and 63 senior lecturers are working in six departments of the faculty. There are a number of scientific schools guided by the prominent scientists of Belarus in the following areas: telecommunication systems and facilities, metrology and standardization, fiber-optic systems. The results of the scientific and research work are widely applied in the educational process.
Students of the faculty obtain extensive knowledge in the fundamental studies and acquire essential knowledge and skills in the areas of professional activities.
While studying specialized subjects, students master the most up-to-date facilities and methods of design of multi-channel systems for transmitting of various kinds of information (analogue and discrete, narrowband and broadband) through the cable, radio-relay, fiber-optic, satellite and space systems; and design of electronic and quasi-electronic commutation systems controlled by computers.
Moreover, methods for information protecting in the telecommunication systems are studied profoundly. Independent work at the course and diploma projects under the guidance of the leading scientists of Belarus enables the graduates to master the most advanced accomplishments of science in this field.
The faculty maintains scientific and tutorial relations with the universities and scientific centers of Germany, Russia, Yugoslavia and other countries.
